Weight-loss Advice You Didn't Know You Needed to Hear

We’d all be lying to ourselves if we said we’d never thought about or felt a certain kind of way about our weight and body. I know it’s sensitive but I don’t want it to feel like a subject that we can’t openly talk about.

Your body is just a part. It’s a vehicle that you reside within.

You are not your body, just like you are not your arm or your leg.

You have a face, but you are not a face.

So why are we so hung up on the image we see when we look in the mirror?

Why do we obsess over our “weight” or how lean we are?

I think there are a few reasons but first let me just say this:

You can love yourself and gain weight.

You can love yourself and lose weight.

You can love yourself at any and all weights.

But I think that our external appearance is one of the many ways we are able to express ourselves. And if that appearance doesn’t “match” some idea that we have about how we feel inside (or how we feel we “should” or want to look), then we end up feeling disappointed and never good enough.

So while there’s technically nothing wrong with gaining weight, or the desire to lose weight or be a little leaner, if you can’t truly do those things without total self-love in the process then you’re certainly never going to achieve, maintain or be happy with your body type.

Just like if you’re not giving love to your partner or family, there’s a zero percent chance that you’re going to have a totally happy and healthy relationship with them… There’s also a zero percent chance that you’ll ever feel good IN your body if you don’t focus more on who you are and not what you look like.

If you want weight loss, LOVE yourself.

If you have gained weight and are struggling about it, LOVE yourself.

If you want to gain weight, LOVE yourself.

No matter your weight or body type, LOVE yourself.

And yourself is YOU. The being inside the body. The beautiful bright soul and spirit.

Focus on that first, everything else will follow.

With Love,

Kate Flowers
