When You're Overwhelmed With Anxiety, Read this.
I made a little impromptu video sharing how I’ve been feeling... you can watch it here. The last few days I’ve just been STRUGGLING to be completely honest.
Like I mention in the video, I have a “reason” for it (which sometimes helps, sometimes doesn’t). But I wanted to talk about what finally helped me break through this morning (after another LONG crying session).
I know, that sounds insignificant but it’s truly what helped me breakthrough.
See, the biggest problem arises when we beat ourselves up for feeling bad..
Like...girl, you already feed bad… don’t feel bad about feeling bad.. Ya know?
We all do it. No one wants to feel super emotional, sad, anxious, confused, overwhelmed, upset, scared, worried, or any other perceived negative emotion.
So of course our internal dialogue is like NOOOO not that feeling again!
But, that never helps…. Trust me, I’ve tried to internally scream my way out of feelings enough times to know that it only amplifies them.
So in order to not let that *said negative feeling or emotion* win that battle, you’ve got to accept it… Alright self, I see today we are feeling a little all over the place.. That’s okay, I’m here for you.
Be your own best friend. Talk gently and kindly towards the overly emotional part of you. As if you were talking to someone you love. Cause the truth is, you ARE someone you love.
Feeling a certain way doesn’t define you.
It doesn’t measure your worth.
It doesn’t mean you’ve failed.
It just means you’re human and you’re living in a complex body with complex emotions within a really imperfect society.
But you are stronger than you realize. The emotions WILL pass.
You are enough right now, and always. Through happiness or grief.
Allow that space for healing within your heart. It feels better than beating yourself up, I can promise you that. And you’ve got this. One day at a time. Sending you some extra love today.
